Action Plan

My action plan consists of what I wish to complete every week so that I am on track to making my TV show. Each task acts as planning and research towards my final outcome, so that I know the most about things such as: ITV and Channel 5, the target audience and my chosen genre etc etc.



My action plan:


Week Starting:

18.06.18 - Record findings from a TV listing of Channel 5 and ITV, to do with timings, genre and target audience (put into a table). Write a summary about the findings about factual and fictional programmes. Research into the target audience: 18-35 mainstream millennials - create an audience profile and an audience questionnaire.


25.06.18 - Investigating and researching into the institutions, Channel 5 and ITV - this includes making a mood board as well as reading up about each institution.


02.07.18 - Decided on what sort of shows I'm interested in making. Watch and create textual analysis of similar programmes.


BUSY: 5th - 9th


09.07.18 - (Continuing the previous task) - focused mainly on write up about each show.


16.07.18 - Read up about the chosen genre using articles and magazines. Create a mind map showing any ideas so far

Coronation Street Textual Analysis

Coronation Street is a British soap opera which airs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at both 7:30pm and 8:30pm for 30 minutes each. The show is set on Coronation Street in a fiction town called Weatherfield; it follows the story of working-class people and the city streets in which they live. The show has a variety of achievements such as becoming the world's longest-running tv soap opera and the most watched programme on British television, therefore is quite respectable. The show averages 8 million viewers per episode. I decided to watch Coronation Street as it is one of ITV's most well known shows and in terms of my coursework I may make something similar to it. I think a soap opera would be a good genre to look at as on both ITV and Channel 5 there are a few soap operas (e.g: Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Home and Away and Neighbours) which already gain praise which means that there is an audience which enjoys them.
