What is a 'millennial'?

Image
In terms of the brief for our task the target audience is for '18-35 mainstream millenials', therefore I conducted some research to learn more about this population. The word 'mainstream' may refer to the different groups of psychographics (e.g. aspirers, succeeders, and explorers etc) - however this may not be the case. The category of 'Mainstreamers' are one of the largest groups, who are said to seek security. They tend to be 'domestic, conformist, conventional, sentimental and favour value for money family brands'. However in terms of for millennials I think there's a variety of both aspires and explorers (as well as other categories) because the generation is exposed to a variety of information. Action Plan

My action plan consists of what I wish to complete every week so that I am on track to making my TV show. Each task acts as planning and research towards my final outcome, so that I know the most about things such as: ITV and Channel 5, the target audience and my chosen genre etc etc. My action plan: Week Starting: 18.06.18 - Record findings from a TV listing of Channel 5 and ITV, to do with timings, genre and target audience (put into a table). Write a summary about the findings about factual and fictional programmes. Research into the target audience: 18-35 mainstream millennials - create an audience profile and an audience questionnaire. 25.06.18 - Investigating and researching into the institutions, Channel 5 and ITV - this includes making a mood board as well as reading up about each institution. 02.07.18 - Decided on what sort of shows I'm interested in making. Watch and create textual analysis of similar programmes. BUSY: 5th - 9th 09.07.18...

The main thing that I am looking forward towards is making my own TV show!! - this includes both the planning and making of the show. This is because it allows me to make anything that takes my interests, whether it be a talk show to a drama. It also allows me to discover and develop new skills to which I can then use later on in my own projects. However, what does worry me is having to make this programme suitable for the specific criteria at hand, which includes: having the show either airing on ITV or Channel 5, targeting an audience of 18-35 year 'millennials' and basing it on a key narrative structure (a key turning point, a point of significant conflict or a resolution). Despite these challenges, which I'm prepared to overcome, I'm ready to ...

Introduction

Welcome, My name is Prachi Dhimmar, aged 17, and currently a student taking the media studies course. Within this course I have been given a brief in relation to our coursework which will show the skills and creativity that I have to produce a final outcome. This blog is a record of my media coursework which consists of the brief: to create an audio-visual sequence from a created television programme and associated print materials to promote the same programme. Throughout this blog you will be able to see the steps I take in making my final outcome and how I have done this. Thank you, Prachi Dhimmar
