Initial Response

My initial response to the brief was that I was excited to create something of my own from scratch, however partially scared with the freedom we have with creating the piece.

The main thing that I am looking forward towards is making my own TV show!! - this includes both the planning and making of the show. This is because it allows me to make anything that takes my interests, whether it be a talk show to a drama. It also allows me to discover and develop new skills to which I can then use later on in my own projects. However, what does worry me is having to make this programme suitable for the specific criteria at hand, which includes: having the show either airing on ITV or Channel 5, targeting an audience of 18-35 year 'millennials' and basing it on a key narrative structure (a key turning point, a point of significant conflict or a resolution). Despite these challenges, which I'm prepared to overcome, I'm ready to give it my best shot!

In terms of what I'm thinking so far:
I would like to attempt making a fictional drama over something factual, as it will give me the opportunity to put my efforts into the camerawork as well as narrative. The brief includes an audience of ''millenials" which allows me to use my own thoughts and opinions to create something that myself or my peers may enjoy.

Coronation Street Textual Analysis

Coronation Street is a British soap opera which airs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at both 7:30pm and 8:30pm for 30 minutes each. The show is set on Coronation Street in a fiction town called Weatherfield; it follows the story of working-class people and the city streets in which they live. The show has a variety of achievements such as becoming the world's longest-running tv soap opera and the most watched programme on British television, therefore is quite respectable. The show averages 8 million viewers per episode. I decided to watch Coronation Street as it is one of ITV's most well known shows and in terms of my coursework I may make something similar to it.
