Final Script

Fades in from black

Everything is quiet, still and empty. It is dark as it falls to the evening time, children go to bed and the busyness of the day has past. You see establishing shots of a field, a park, a gate and a to the swimming pool - mainly long shots as they zoom in. The air is quiet, just the breeze and distant noises can be heard. Tense, slow music kicks in to build up tension alongside the slow zooming.

As the scenes has finally zoomed in slowly, you come to a body. She is laying on her side besides a swimming pool. Her blood pours into the pool with a deep red as she bleeds out. We don't know how long she has been there but it's quiet a sight. Her hand lay over the side of the pool, dangling and dripping with blood.

1. THERAPY - MIDDAY

You see a close-up of a bunch of flowers in a vase, however they have wilted and droop down - similar to how the hand was drooped over the edge of the pool. There is a tank of fish in the corner of the room, a black one and an orange one, they are seen to be playing and swimming around.

Finally, you see a character: there is a medium shot of a women sitting on a sofa, she has shoulder-length ginger hair and a colourful green dress on. She is seen to be holding a bowl of cereal, and she scoops a spoonful of it into her mouth. The sun is shinning brightly behind her as she is seated in front of a window.

Slight high angle, and close up of her taking bite after bite. Off-screen you hear the Therapist start talking.

           Therapist
    So,

The therapist voice is soft and sounds warming and welcoming. There is a slight pause as the patient takes another bite of cereal.

           Therapist
How have you been feeling lately?

Tanya sits back into the sofa with her bowl of cereal.

           Tanya
    I'm good

Her answers are short, vague and quite basic

           Therapist
What have you been doing lately?

           Tanya
Nothing much, watching TV, browsing social media and eating cereal

           Therapist
    Oh yeah? And how's that?

           Tanya
    It's good

Tanya crosses her arms and looks off, how's watching TV? What kind of therapist is this, she doesn't seem helpful at all

           Therapist
That's good then, I'm glad to hear that. Are you planning to do anything else? What are your goals?

           Tanya
Um.. I think ill just continue with this?

           Therapist
I think it would be good to find another hobby and take interest in it
           Tanya
    Why?

2. STREET - EVENING

You see shots of the sky, the roads and the streets, it is dark as it is reaching evening time. People have already arrived home from work and sitting down to eat dinner.

There is a girl she is has shoulder-length ginger hair and a jacket on - she's the one you just saw at the therapy room. It is a medium shot of her head and her shoulders as she is walking, you hear her footsteps with every step. The camera is hand-held, tracking. The camera comes to a stop when you see the opening between the walls as the character goes and sits down.

She sits down staring off into the distance, looking over the river, her back originally facing the camera. There is a high-pitched ringing as she looks down and take her phone out of her pocket. There is a lady, the camera zooms in on her face, she is smiling and wearing a cross necklace. You then see a low angle of the characters face she is in deep thought, she looks up and stares off to where she was earlier, she is wearing the same necklace. It cuts to a medium shot of her staring off, she holds the phone up to her ear. She laughing and smiling as she talks on the phone, the sound is blocked up by the use of music.

                 TANYA
I love you, talk to you soon.

She puts down the phone and puts it in her pocket

                 SOPHIE
Hey Tanya. Who were you talking to?

Tanya looks round to see who just called out for her.

                 TANYA

     Oh, hey Sophie.

She smiles and gets up and hugs her (quickly).

                 SOPHIE

     Who were you talking to?

Tanya looks down at her phone in her hand.

                TANYA

I was just talking to my mum

She states with a smile.

Sophie looks up at Tanya, close up. Tanya is staring off

                 Sophie

     ...Your mum?

There is a pause.

                 TANYA

Yeah. Sophie, you better not tell me some nonsense once again

                 SOPHIE

     Tanya..

                 TANYA

     Sophie.

                 SOPHIE

You know your mum isn't with us       anymore.

Sophie is staring intentively at Tanya, she is worried. Tanya's mother recently died and she doesn't know how she has been coping with that news.

There is a pause which is longer than the other pauses.

Tanya is staring back at Sophie with a serious look on her face .

                 TANYA

I'm kidding! That was just my         boss .

Tanya laughs softly. Sophie also starts laughing out of relief, she hopes Tanya is ok.

                 SOPHIE

Ah, you got me worried for a         second. Ha ha... So, I hear           you've been getting therapy?         How is that?

                 TANYA
     Yeah, it's alright.
Soph, I haven't seen you in           ages and this is what you want       to talk about? I'm perfectly         fine. Trust me.

                 SOPHIE

If you say so, I'm just worried       about you. We're just worried         about you.

Sophie wants Tanya to know that there are people out there who care about Tanya and are willing to help her.

                 TANYA

     Worried? Don't make me laugh.

                 SOPHIE

Tanya, what do you mean? We .         care bout you. We want to help.

                 TANYA
     Care? Help? Yeah right.

She is genuinely shocked and confused. Ha ha yeah right they want to help.

All of you could have helped.         You were adamant that she was         delusional, it was all of you         who call her crazy!

Tanya's voice raises as the topic angers her. No-one understands what they did to her mother.

                 SOPHIE

     Tan...

                 TANYA

     What Sophie?

There is a pause.

     She was innocent.

Tanya's voice gets quiet as she looks down and remembers her time with her mother. She didn't deserve what they did to her, no-one does.

                 SOPHIE

Hey hey, it's okay. I never           said any of that. I liked your       mum, she treated me like her         own child.

                 TANYA

You can say that, but you             eventually joined all the             others.

Calling her names, blaming her,       cornering her so she could even       stand back up.

Tanya becomes jittery as she almost mumbles her words as she list each things out. Tanya looks up to face Sophie.

I was the only one who was           there for her and cared for           her. But no, you all took the         one thing I had, the one person       I loved dearly.

                 SOPHIE

     ...I don't know what you're           talking about

                 TANYA

You don't know what I'm talking       about?

                 SOPHIE

Tanya, your mother was               depressed. She would hear             voices...she took her own life.

Tanya's eyes flick from each of Sophie's eyes. How dare she say that. Tanya cuts her off

                 TANYA

NO! You all keep saying that,         but no. Don't lie to me.

Sophie holds onto the sides of Tanya, however Tanya shrugs her off.

     Don't touch me.

Sophie continues to try touch Tanya but she continues to shrug her off. This angers her, which makes her more agitated and aggressive.

You all act nice, friendly and       perfect, but no. You all nasty,       ugly and horrible. How dare you       touch me. You killed her, all         of you!

Tanya shoves Sophie and she falls back from the ledge.
